Warner Bros. Discovery Alerts

The Warner Bros. Discovery Alerting Program (Warner Bros. Discovery Alerts or WBD Alerts) is an emergency warning service used in urgent situations to contact participants with key updates and information to help them make informed decisions to improve safety in the event of an emergency. It is available to Warner Bros. Discovery employees and others who choose to enroll, including our contractors, their employees, and our guests and visitors. This privacy notice explains how we collect, use, and disclose personal information in connection with the program.

We collect information in connection with the Warner Bros. Discovery Alerting Program in a variety of ways, including by text message enrollment, email submission, mobile apps such as Blackberry AtHoc, self-service portals, websites (including warnerbrosdiscoveryready.com and wbdready.com), and paper forms. The Warner Bros. Discovery Alerting Program can be used in urgent situations to contact you, quickly disseminate information, and deliver instructions via email, automated phone or text message and via a push notification on an app, depending on the nature of the situation and the time of day.

To administer and provide Warner Bros. Discovery Alerts, we may collect the following categories of information: (1) identifiers such as name and contact details (including email address and telephone number); (2) online identifiers such as IP address or device identifier; (3) professional or employment-related information such as your employment status, job/position title, details of travel arrangements you made through our services, and contact information we maintain in our personnel records; and (4) geolocation data (if enabled by you through your device settings).

We may use your personal identifiers and professional or employment related-information to contact you by any means available to us (including email, phone call, automated phone or text message, or push notification) to notify you of: (1) situations where we legitimately believe we need to contact you urgently about a real or threatened emergency or unsafe situation (e.g., active shooter or natural disaster); (2) crisis management or disaster recovery efforts designed to protect individuals who participate in the program or Warner Bros. Discovery assets, property, infrastructure, and systems; (3) to test the effectiveness of the program and our sites or services; and (4) to validate or update data, including your contact information. We also may use online identifiers and geolocation data to help recognize your device and to provide alerts to address safety concerns based on your location (e.g., sending an update about area forest fires to everyone within a designated area).

It is in Warner Bros. Discovery’s legitimate interests to process your personal information for the purpose of ensuring the safety and security of individuals, including those who work for Warner Bros. Discovery. We may disclose the categories of personal information identified above for a business purpose. For example, in an emergency, we may share your personal information, including your location, with emergency first responders and government authorities. To provide the service, Warner Bros. Discovery may also share your personal information with entities in the Warner Bros. Discovery group of companies and external service providers (such as IT system suppliers). Warner Bros. Discovery does not sell your personal information.

As Warner Bros. Discovery operates internationally, your personal information will be stored and processed in the United States. Data protection and privacy regulations in the United States may not offer the same level of protection as in other parts of the world, such as the European Union or Canada. Warner Bros. Discovery ensures that appropriate safeguards are in place to protect the personal data processed in connection with the program. If you are in the European Union, Warner Bros. Discovery safeguards data transfers by using EU Standard Contractual Clauses or by relying upon its service providers’ participating in a European Union approved international data transfer mechanism or the adoption of Binding Corporate Rules. The personal information you provide will be retained for a reasonable period to effectuate our legitimate interests, but not longer than the duration of your employment or your engagement as a consultant, contractor, production team member, or other business affiliate of Warner Bros. Discovery. For employees, that will generally be the duration of your employment and for others, such as production team members, it will generally be the duration of your participation in the production.

Warner Bros. Discovery may also transfer the personal information you have provided in the event of a business transaction or change of control (such as if it or one of its business units or its relevant assets are acquired by, sold to, or merged with another company, or otherwise transferred as a result of reorganization, consolidation, or liquidation), where it may be necessary for the new business owner to contact you in the event of an emergency.

Appropriate technical and organizational procedures designed to safeguard the information we collect have been put in place.

If you have access to the Warner Bros. Discovery network, you may access and revise your personal information using the Blackberry AtHoc self-service portal.
